Shout Out To The Scotts
Back in the 1970’s, our biggest supporters were those that had left Ireland, for various reasons and in Canada, we all found some peace, regardless of what had gone on in Ireland.
Jack Scott of Lisburn was a wonderful supporter. I don’t know his entire history, but a good man he was. And he raised at least three fine children (not sure if there were any others we don’t know about).
In about 1985, the Irish Rovers had a plan to create some pubs in various locations in Canada, called “The Unicorn.” One such place was in Aurora, Ontario and there we met one of the sons of Jack Scott, Ian. Ian was our man to lead the security and be the head bouncer at our Aurora location. Not sure whatever happened to him, but then, he’s probably not sure about whatever happened to our plans for The Unicorn in Aurora. We lost touch.
But, I did get to meet some of the fantastic Irish siblings of Ian and the children of Jack Scott! Aye, a big shoutout to Andrew… you poor wee thing, being born in Canada, but wishing it was that grand land of Ireland, eh?
Don’t worry yourself lad – you’re as Irish as your brother, so you are! The songs we sang are for you.
Don’t forget we call came to this country Canada – strong and free.
I’ll write more on this subject later on. But Andrew, och, you were born in Canada, but you’re as Irish as the rest of us, so y’are!
Just stay away from the green beer nonsense.
A wee song for ye, Andrew. Stay away from the green beer… and the Black Velvet Band:
OH How I would have loved meeting you! Jack was my brother in law…. He passed in 2001 and is dearly missed by all his family. Love your message here!
Nice to hear from you Will
